A year of research, certifications, and product development to anticipate the needs of modern distribution
In 2025, the retail sector in Italy and abroad accelerated its focus on measurable sustainability, recycled materials, operational efficiency, and digital integration. Plastimark responded to these shifts with a year of intensive work, resulting in concrete achievements and official recognitions.
Among the most significant developments is the Carbon Footprint project, which enabled the certification of the environmental impact of each product, providing retailers with a transparent evaluation tool fully aligned with international ESG standards. At the same time, the entire Plastimark range obtained or renewed TÜV Rheinland certification, and the company remains the only one certified by TÜV for all plastic baskets, a notable distinction in terms of safety and quality.
On the materials front, Plastimark has developed a new recycled eco-compound for baskets, which will be officially presented at EuroShop 2026. In addition, a new shopping trolley model is on the way, designed to meet the specific capacity requirements expressed by European and international markets.
With regard to digitalisation, Plastimark is working on compatibility projects for shopping trolleys with automatic-reading handles, leveraging the absence of RFID interference naturally associated with plastic materials and enabling new integrations with advanced self-scanning and automated management systems.
Such a significant year of developments and confirmations will find its natural showcase at EuroShop 2026, where Plastimark will present the innovations resulting from this ongoing research journey.
